Invitations
The university sends formal invitations for May Commencement exercises to students’ permanent addresses in March. Invitations for December Commencement Exercises are mailed in November. One of the best ways to make sure you receive all mailings is to complete your school’s application to graduate. If you or your family did not receive an invitation, please contact us.
Caps and Gowns
GradFair
Take care of all your Commencement needs in one place at one time at GradFair. Fall GradFair for Winter Commencement is usually held in October. Spring GradFair for May Commencement is usually held in February. The 2012 Spring GradFair is over.
At GradFair, students may rent caps and gowns, purchase graduate announcements, class rings, and diploma frames, and have formal pictures taken in academic regalia. They may also visit information tables hosted by University Ceremonies and Commencement Services and the Indiana University Alumni Association.
Note: Cap and gown orders are available only for the closest upcoming ceremony. Students intending to graduate in the spring may not order apparel in the fall. Any orders placed in the fall will not be carried over to the spring, and refunds will not be given. Likewise, December grads may not order caps and gowns in the spring.
Unable to attend GradFair? Order apparel, announcements and frames online directly from Herff Jones, the university's licensed Commencement vendor.
